Summary

Position is responsible for assisting the Network Administrator in the implementation and maintenance of the phone and computer network.  Position carries out coordination, installation, testing, and technical tasks in support of the local and wide area wired and wireless network systems and participates in developing and implementing network security procedures and network management plans.  Position is responsible for managing the helpdesk and ensuring tickets are being worked timely.

Expectations:

  • Assists the Network Administrator with designing and configuring Americollect’s local and wide area computer wired, wireless, and voice networks. Manages the daily activities of local and wide area network systems, performs diagnostics, schedules preventative maintenance ensuring network systems are operational, and reports systems faults to the Network Administrator.
  • Provides guidance to Network Administrator during responses to emergency work requests; troubleshoots network failures and errors; and diagnoses, isolates, and resolves routine to moderately/highly complex network related problems ensuring timely results and minimal disruption of operations and reports findings to the Network Administrator.
  • Maintain and monitor network hardware/software including testing and providing upgrades as needed
  • Anticipate company needs with regard to network hardware/software and recommend changes as necessary
  • Back up network data
  • Analyze and report computer and network security breaches or attempted breaches
  • Document procedures in a technical manual so that procedures can be performed in absence of IT Manager
  • Document network support activities
  • Share knowledge with fellow teammates so that backups are in place
  • Provide assistance to internal/external customers
  • Resolve issues quickly to ensure teammates are not sitting idle
  • Maintain support of all computers and operating systems
  • Maintain support in the IT control room to ensure reliability of equipment and efficiency
  • Configure security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals
  • Troubleshoot network or connectivity problems for users or user groups.
  • Provide telephone support related to networking or connectivity issues.
  • Identify the causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
  • Maintain network software, including security or firewall software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Networking Associates Degree – Required
  • Previous experience – Preferred
  • Ability to keyboard 45 wpm
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Outlook, VCQ, Visual Basic & Word
  • Ability/knowledge to assist clients/vendors with technology provided so they can be self sufficient

Working Environment

This is an office/call center environment with a moderate noise level. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently sitting for long periods of time and typing, entering data and reading on a computer.
